Chinese support for Arctic development

Moscow would certainly benefit from a U.S. tilt toward Russia vis-a-vis sanctions lifting and resisting PRC influence in the Arctic. At the same time, however, the Kremlin will likely seek to balance continued Chinese support for Arctic development while exploring new opportunities to expand its presence in Antarctica and adjoining waters. The Kremlin’s moves in Antarctica could have more serious consequences for the United States than for the PRC–especially if Moscow is able to ramp up the development of its navy and merchant marine capabilities (Window on Eurasia, August 17, 2024). Effective Western policies on the Arctic must reflect both these changing geopolitics of the region as well as Moscow’s potential and stated intentions toward the opposite pole. สล็อตเว็บตรง
